Hermann Lanz Varimot typ 8
Here are the famous Hermann Lanz Varimot. These two ones are both dating from 1958. They are equiped with a Faryman typ DKF engine of 11 hp at 1750 r/min. I am interrested by all informations concerning them.
The foolwo up of the adventures. With many efforts, I have finally free up both engines. I have also repaired one starting motor. I have bought a core plug and have installed it on the cylinder head. As soon as I will found enough time to work on engine 1, I will re-install the cylinder head and its equipment. The first starting trial will not be too far. I have also bought a third Varimot more or less complete. With the 3 machines, I guess it is possible to make 2 of them to revive. Let's see. I have also bought 4 new tyres (6.00 x 16) that I have installed on number 1. It has now a better appearance. The culinder head is still not installed.

The two Hermann Lanz Varimot, the one on the left will revive, its in a good state, the one on the right will be used for parts. Many of them are aleardy missing and the engine is in bad conditions. First sight to these machines, I will not work soon on them, but I want to see what I can do in order to save them and avoid them to perish more. First step, make a tool in order to try to turn the engine over by hand by using a hand crank. Thanks to my friend Phillippe for having turned this tool for me. Bad luck, the engine is stucked, both are stucked. So, removal of the cylinder head of number 1, that's how I call them! The engine has been stopped with the inlet valve open, see below photo. Rust has done his job, the piston is seized in the liner. The valve has been free easily and several hours later, its with a lot of pleasure that I have found the cylinder head in better condition. One core plug is missing on the cylinder head, what has appened to this engine... The liner has been fully splash with unseizing agent, let's wait for a wile.
