I have bought this typical english tractor in early April 2010, it has arrived at home 2 weeks later. This tractor is my present for my 50th I have not yet. The condtion of the tractor is : damaged steering due to the fact that the tractor has been towed, the pinions are broken. The engine has started one hour after being arrived at my friend Peter for several days. There is some work to do, a good clean of the carburetor and the air filter will not be optional. We have unstucked the side lever as the return spring was blocked. For information, this tractor is driven stand up and has only one pedal on the right foot. At half travel, it actuate the clutch, and then it actuates the brakes. The throttle command is located on the left side of the steering. The gearbox lever is on the top of the gear box which is turning with the front wheel, which meabs that the lever goes toward the chassic when you turn right and go opposite when you turn left. In fact, the gear box, engine, clutch and primary transmission are integrated with the front wheel. The engine is a Douglas SV63 (side valves of 630 cc), the gearbox is already a 4 forward and one reverse. The major quantity of the Opperman Motocart were equiped with a JAP engine, the ones having a Douglas engine are not so common. Several different ypes of carts were available, this model is equiped with a 'Lincoln Tip Cart' which tips manually. The main suage was for transportation of suggar beets and potatoes. I have got this tractor in a good average condition, except the damaged steering box, the seller having given me the gears but without bearings. These ones have needed some searches to find them. The tyres are obviously genuine ones with 9x24 for the front one and 30-5 for the rear (these later dimension doesn't exist anymore but 6x20 should go well). The wood cart will need some treatment againt worn wood. The engine runs and doesn't smoke. The gearbox is hard and all the gears don't engage, it seems also to be strong! The brakes seems to work. I have cleand the carburetor deeply, its incredible that the engine could run with all the deposits in the bottom of the fuel boal. I have recieved the bearing by friend Peter has found and have reassembled the steering box.
The carburetor has spend some time in the ultrasonic bath and is now as when new (almost). The start of the engine is much more easier.

After
The exhaust was in a very bad state, so I have decided to remake it fully. The pipe and the silencer have been remade using the old one as a patern.
The steps of the restart
The steering box has been repaired and re-installed. The tube of the front wheel having decided to colpase, I have so been obliged to replace it without too much troubles. What remain to be done? The governor seems to don't work properly, the axle which command the carburetor seems to be stuck or blocked; I will work on it soon. The clutch release bearing shaft is also difficult to move as is the clutch cable. The rear brakes command need some greasing also. When all these some things will be fixed, it will remain to conduct a riding test and see how this thing works...a short video will be make and will appear in the dedicated area.

10 August 2010, it works! I have so added a video on the appropriated page!
19 July 2010, what's new . The governor is working, the stop screw of the engine speed was unscrewed totaly. The reason why it was like this is because there is so much play in the command that the cam didn't touch anymore the screw, so by unscrewing fully this screw, the governor didn't had any function and the engine spped setting was by forcing on the command. So to make the story short, I just need to remake a screw with a bigger head, but as it is a 1/4in screw and as I don't has a die suitable, I will just make a big head that I will force on the actual screw, it will work. The clutch release bearing axle is moving freely now, thanks to some freeing agent drops. The riding test is coming soon!
