More detailled information hereThe Allis GRD from Joep in Nederland. This an Allis made in France under licence with the 4 Cylinders diesel TM85 Indénor.
The Allis Chalmers 'GR' or 'GRV' if it is a veneyard version (narrow) manufactured in France are almost an exact copy of the 'G' manufactured from 1948 till 1955 in the United States in the Alabama's factory. This machine is singular by its engine instaled backward, in the back of the driver. This arrangment allows a full view on the implements installed in the wheelbase of the tractor (between front and rear wheels). The 'G' type manufactured in the U.S was using the Continental N62 engine, a four cylinder side valves with a displacement of 1049cm3 (60,3 x 88,9mm bore/stroke) and an engine rotation of 1800tr/mn. The model, ormore precisely, the models manufactured in France have been firstly equiped with the Peugeot 203 enigne in its agricultural version for the 'GR' et 'GRV' made in 1957 then always with a Peugeot engine but this time the 403 for the 'GP' made in 1958, then came the Indenor TMD diesel engine for the 'GRD' et 'GPD' made in 1959. Its more than interresting to notice that some units have been equiped with the Continental N62 engine and knowned under the 'GN' name.
To put again the GRV on working order, at least for one of mine, has not createdmajor troubles, excepting the system producing the electricity. In fact, no current was produced by the dynamo on the tractor, this was not really surprising as, by dismantling the dashbord, I noticed that a big part of the wire harness was burned. The main cause being probably the contact between the wire harness wires and the chassis at the back of the tractors, closed to the rear lights. I have so replaced the dynamo by an alternator I had at home. I have made a bracket with steel plate that I have formed in order to get a correct alignment of the driving belt and I have remade the rear part of the harness and replaced the rear light by new ones. As I was there, I have also made a bracket for the compulsory rotating light (gyroscopic ? light).

The Allis Continental from Claude, equiped with a veneyard treatment equipment specially made by a local craftsman and Claude himself.
My two GRV's side by side. Both are equiped with the 4 cylinders gasoline Peugeot 203 engine and have been most probably manufactured within some day's or weeks difference as refered by their very closed serial numbers. The original colour is the same, but their location was very different, as well as their use and maintenance level too.
